Romanian rank tracker with 20 years of history, white-label reporting and wide search engine coverage
Review by EuropeanStack EditorialUpdated Verified
Advanced Web Ranking is a mature, founder-run rank tracker with unusually good value per keyword, wide engine coverage and strong agency reporting. Outdated legal documents, an undisclosed AWS region and US sub-processor transfers let it down. Its scope also stops at rank tracking. Choose it for breadth and price, and demand a current data processing agreement before you sign if EU residency matters to your organisation.
Advanced Web Ranking (AWR) is a rank tracking and SEO reporting platform made by Caphyon SRL of Craiova, Romania. The company says it began in 2002 as a Mac-friendly rank tracker, and the legal entity was registered in 2003. Caphyon also makes the Advanced Installer packaging tool. AWR offers unlimited users and projects, wide search engine coverage and white-label reporting, but its terms name AWS without a region, and its DPA permits US sub-processor transfers and still cites the invalidated Privacy Shield.

Advanced Web Ranking began in 2002 with a gap in the market. According to the company's About page, two founders working from a 200-square-foot room noticed that no rank tracker existed for the Mac, so they built one. More than two decades later, AWR is a cloud service that tracks keywords, competitors and AI visibility for agencies and in-house teams.
The maker is Caphyon S.R.L., registered in Craiova, Romania, under J16/935/2003 with tax number RO15544329. The founders say they started in 2002, and the register dates the company to June 2003. Caphyon's second product is Advanced Installer, a Windows packaging tool, which means rank tracking is not the only revenue line. Romanian filings show 2024 turnover of RON 35.8 million, around β¬7.2 million, and net profit near RON 8 million for the whole company, not AWR alone.
Headcount sits at roughly 75 people according to the Romanian tax authority's data, and the About page says "almost 70". The company states it has no sales staff and no layers of project managers. Its own figures claim 24,000+ users in 170 countries and 1,350+ agencies, numbers we could not audit.
We could not read the shareholder list from free registers. The administrators are two founders, share capital is the minimum, and no outside investor or foreign parent appears anywhere. We treat the company as independent and bootstrapped, flagged as unconfirmed at the register level.
AWR competes with AccuRanker most directly. Where AccuRanker narrows toward speed on huge keyword sets, AWR widens toward engines, reports and price.
AWR tracks any location and device and supports engines beyond Google, including YouTube, Amazon, Baidu and Naver. The company claims coverage of 4,000 search engines in total, another figure to treat as marketing. For e-commerce teams watching Amazon positions or agencies serving Korean and Chinese clients, this breadth is the main reason to pick it.
Pro supports daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and on-demand refreshes. Agency adds one-hour on-demand updates, and Enterprise allows custom schedules. Choosing slower schedules for stable keywords is a practical way to stretch a keyword allowance.
Each project can track up to 50 competitors at no extra cost. The platform analyses SERP features and click-through rates "to the pixel," and offers visibility metrics that go beyond average position. An SEO forecasting tool compares the organic value of rankings against paid search costs. Pro limits forecasting to one per project, while Agency makes it unlimited.
Agency plans and above provide white-label reports sent by email or shared as auto-updating permalinks. AWR's FAQ adds that custom-domain white label is also available on any annual subscription. Custom dashboards, an API and a Looker Studio integration arrive on the same tier. Enterprise then adds cross-project reporting and a BigQuery connector. For a reseller, this is the strongest argument for AWR over cheaper alternatives.
All plans include AI visibility tracking, which AWR describes as AI Brand Intelligence. As with other vendors, the discipline is new, and results depend on prompts and sampling. Use the data for trends, not for precise promises to clients.
Caphyon lists email, chat and phone contacts, with US and UK phone numbers on its site. The company says it keeps no sales team, so the people answering questions are engineers and support staff. That suits technical buyers, though it also means no dedicated account manager until the Enterprise Plus tier.
| Advanced Web Ranking | AccuRanker | |
|---|---|---|
| Home country | Romania | Denmark |
| Entry price | $139 a month, 7,000 keywords | $224 a month, 2,000 keywords |
| Users and projects | Unlimited | Unlimited users and domains |

| Stated EU hosting | DPA: EU/EEA data centres; ToS: AWS, no region named | Germany, per privacy policy |
AWR charges in US dollars by keyword allowance, and every plan includes unlimited users and projects. Pro is $139 a month for 7,000 keywords. Agency is $279 for 14,500 keywords, Enterprise is $699 for 35,500, and Enterprise Plus is $980 for 50,000 with SSO and an account manager. Annual billing saves 10%. The homepage offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, and the pricing page adds a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Against AccuRanker, the keyword economics favour AWR. Seven thousand keywords for $139 compares with 2,000 to 5,000 keywords for $224 at AccuRanker's Professional entry level. The catch is that the cheapest AWR plan omits the API and Looker Studio, and white-label reports need Agency unless you pay annually. An agency will almost certainly need Agency at $279.
Pro is generous for a single site. If you resell reports to clients, budget for Agency from day one. For a broader suite see the Ahrefs alternatives page.
AWR is a Romanian company under EU law, but its privacy paperwork is the weakest part of the product. The terms of service say data is stored on Amazon Web Services. They do not name a region. According to the data processing agreement, personal data is stored in data centres in the EU and EEA, yet the same document says data may be transferred to authorised US-based sub-processors.
Sub-processors include Amazon Web Services, Intercom, Help Scout and the payment provider 2Checkout. That agreement also requires US sub-processors to be certified under the EU-US Privacy Shield. The Court of Justice invalidated that framework in 2020. Caphyon's legal text, updated in February 2026, has not caught up. Its privacy policy says billing data is held on internal infrastructure in Romania.
Because of that mismatch we do not claim EU hosting for AWR. Rank data is mostly business data, so the practical exposure is limited to account details. Even so, a procurement team should request a refreshed DPA that names the AWS region and a current transfer mechanism. This is why we rate compliance 6.5, well below AccuRanker's 9.0.
Agencies that resell reporting. If you send white-label rank reports to clients, Agency at $279 offers unlimited users and projects with the API and Looker Studio included.
Teams tracking non-Google engines. If you need YouTube, Amazon, Baidu or Naver positions, AWR's coverage is wider than most European rivals.
Budget-conscious SEOs with large keyword lists. If cost per tracked keyword drives your decision, AWR undercuts AccuRanker at the entry level.
Not for strict EU-hosting mandates. If a policy requires written EU-only hosting, choose AccuRanker, which states German hosting, or a tool from the SEO tools category with an explicit region. If you need backlinks and audits, add a full suite.

Caphyon SRL is a Romanian company and publishes a data processing agreement. That DPA says personal data is stored in data centres based in the EU and EEA. It also allows transfers to US-based sub-processors and still refers to the EU-US Privacy Shield, which was invalidated in 2020. Terms of service say data is stored on AWS without naming a region. Ask for an updated DPA before relying on it.
Caphyon S.R.L., registered in Craiova, Romania in 2003 (J16/935/2003). The company says its founders began in 2002 and that it has about 70 staff. Caphyon also makes Advanced Installer, a Windows packaging tool. We could not confirm the shareholder list from free registers, and nothing we found points to an outside investor.
Pro costs $139 a month for 7,000 keywords, Agency $279 for 14,500, Enterprise $699 for 35,500 and Enterprise Plus $980 for 50,000. All plans include unlimited users and projects. Only for rank tracking and reporting. It has no backlink index or site audit on the scale of those suites. Agencies often pair a tracker like AWR with a broader tool, and use AWR for client-facing white-label reports.
For less than AccuRanker's entry price, AWR's Pro plan tracks 7,000 keywords at $139 a month, against 2,000 for $224. It also covers YouTube, Amazon, Baidu and Naver, with white-label reports on Agency or any annual plan. The trade-off is hosting evidence: AccuRanker's privacy policy names Germany, while AWR's terms name AWS without a region.
